System overview

We installed Samsung’s mini VRF systems to serve each bedroom individually. This approach removed the need for refrigerant leak detection, substantially reducing both upfront capital expenditure and ongoing maintenance costs. Bespoke black wall-mounted indoor units were selected in place of traditional ducted fan coils, providing a cleaner aesthetic while cutting material and labour costs. Simple, backlit hotel-style controls were included, enabling guests to adjust room conditions discreetly at night without disturbing others.

A two-stage DHW generation strategy was implemented to maximise system efficiency and long-term savings. Incoming mains water is first preheated to approximately 50°C using a high-efficiency hydro unit driven by 160 kW low-temperature modules, optimised for exceptional Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP). The preheated water is then boosted to a final temperature of up to 80°C by a high-temperature twin-stage hydro module. This staged production method delivers significantly higher SCOP performance compared with single high-temperature systems—resulting in lower energy consumption, reduced operating costs, and a smaller carbon footprint across the system’s lifecycle.
